Beacon Counselling

Beacon counselling builds resilience in communities by supporting adults, young people and children experiencing mental and emotional distress. They do this by providing one to one counselling, group programmes and through community projects. Beacon delivers counselling in 22 centres across Stockport. They have two Beacon counselling centres and we work from schools, GP surgeries and community centres. The service is open to everyone with the majority of the clients coming from Stockport and the Greater Manchester area.

With one in four of us experiencing these challenges at some point in our lives, Beacon’s services remain in high demand. Beacon works with individuals to tackle a wide range of problems from depression, anxiety and stress through to relationships, bereavement and family breakdown.

‘I could be myself and open about anything and was never judged. The counsellor worked with me until I was where I needed to be’

‘My confidence in dealing with situations has improved a lot’

‘The service has made me realise that no matter how alone you feel there is always someone who will listen’

Beacon Counselling (Charity Number: 1109545) does not charge a fee for the majority of the counselling services they provide. This means that everyone, regardless of their financial situation, can access counselling services. Funding for the services comes from client donations, charitable grants, as well as fundraising. The Stockport Beer and Cider Festival will provide a superb opportunity for Beacon Counselling to raise vital funds to keep the charity’s core services running as well as increase the awareness of the work they do.
